index.dat file problems

By mudbone ·
I go through win2000 explore to gain access to index.dat. From there I open the file, highlight most of the data, delete it, then save the file. When I return to the file the data is still there.
How do I get around the fact that this file resides in multiple places and will not take the modification?

You can actually delete the INDEX.DAT file. The next time you log in 2000 will create a new fresh copy.
