INETINFO.exe using all available memory

By Ryan Burbidge ·
We are running IIS 4.0 on Windows NT Server SP6a with all the latest security patches/updates.

We have a problem where the INETINFO.exe process is using all the available server memory and paging file which results in a reboot of the server being required.

Does anyone know what can cause this? Is there a fix?

Thanks in advance.

Actually, I believe this could be your problem, as you stated a reboot is always needed:

Sounds like you have a leaky web application. In IIS 4 and 5 all web apps (cgi, vb web apps etc) are ran in the same process.
If you have a 2003 server box try copying them over as IIS6 runs them in differnet processes so you can issolate them and only need to restart the process to free resources.

Just had another thought as you may not have a Win 2003 server to hand. I'd try disabling one web application at a time and see if it runs ok to isolate the problem application.

If you have a few try moving one at a time to another server and running it, say, 20 times and see if it starts to use more resources.
