INFECTED FILE CANNOT REMOVE

I need to remove a file that was sent to me through AOL. It is titled bigmac.exe. How can I get rid of this file the system running it had no anti-virus software installed at the time.

Go to start/find/files or folders
type in bigmac.exe in the box called names.
select your hard drive normally C
click find
when the file has been found right click to select the file then go to file menu and click delete
under NO circumstancesopen the file

Boot to a command prompt.
type: del \location of file\bigmac.exe
"location of file" meaning whichever directory or folder the file resides in.
