Info Policy object does not exist

    Locked

    by ricky.helmer ·

I have started with a brand new installation of Active Directory. I have imported a secure template to the default domain policy, and created new policies for the custom things. I have sucessfully tested they work on 1 pc. I come in the next day and it wont work from another computer, much less the once I started with.

I ran gpupdate /force on DC and client and gpresult /v on client. I get a message stating “Info: the policy object does not exist”. When I try an administrator account, I get a seperate message stating something to the face of “there is no RSOP data for this user”.

When I look at the event application log, I have errors of Userenv ID 1054 – Windows cannot obtain the DC name for your computer network (A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host.) Group policy processing aborted.

I also have event a Userenv ID 1053 – Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.) Group Policy Processing aborted.

On the DC, I get a system error LSASRV event ID 40960 – The Security System detected an authentication error for the server DNS/kingofbeer.budbeach.local. The failure code from authentication protocol Kerberos was “The attempted logon is invalid. This is either due to a bad username or authentication information.

I have tried uninstalling DNS and reinstalling it and configuring it manually and seemed to have cleared up a few errors.

Active Directory had originally set up DNS for me.

Can someone walk me through step by step on setting up my DNS? Is there anything else that could be causing this??

I have also run dcdiag and received the following output:

I dont know if this part matters either but I can ping my server name from the client, but not the FQDN like kingofbeer.budbeach.local
