Informational interview with a database professional

By Suzanne7991 ·
I am a student working on my Bachelors degree in IT Database. I'm in Ft. Worth, Texas. At this point in my education it is a good idea for me to participate in an informational interview. This is not for a job. An informational interview is simply where a student meets with a professional in their chosen field. I will learn about their position, daily operations, get real world advice and build confidence. I am very excited that I have reached this point in my education and I am reaching out to find a knowledgeable database professional I can interview. Database administration, development, etc.
I can do this over email, phone or on the job/in person interview (preferred). I am open to anything from a 20 minute visit to a week internship.

my thoughts

I would start with approaching local business in your field of study, setting up an appointment, and explaining what you are looking for. Personally, I would also do this in a face to face type situation. I would also try for a week's internship.

I recently graduated from our local Community College; at the end of our last term, we did a work placement with a local business that would agree to take on someone in our field of study for a five week period.

I think that is a great idea. I will work on that.
