Using a Gateway notebook CX210x with Vista 32 bit, we are unable to import music from such external devices as a cassette player. We have tried Audacity and Roxio. We have tried to use the microphone input at the front of the computer. The computer picks up ambient noise (conversation, etc) very nicely, but no music from the player.
