Is it possible to remove(not show) the .doc extension when using the insert field – document information – file name feature in Word 97.
This seems to happen automatically in Word 2000.
Also, when I save a Word 97 file, which I have created atWork, to Word 2000 on my home PC, the .doc extension is not shown, which is great, but the file size seems to double in size!!
When I take the Word 2000 file bake to Work and save it again in Word 97, the file size drops back to it’s “original” size (& the .doc extension re-appears).
Is there a problem somewhere or is this a normal Word 2000 function which doubles the file size?
