    Insert Unsubscribe into Gmail Email

    Locked

    by Scarlet Pimpernel704 ·

I have spent the majority of my day researching on Google to try and find out why all of my emails are going to people’s spam folders. I’ve made the changes recommended, except one:

I can’t figure out how to insert an unsubscribe option into my emails. I know it goes in the header, but gmail doesn’t seem to have editable header text for emails.

Please, does anyone have a tip on how to do this?

Your email could have been black listed.

      Example: https://www.google.com/search?&q=why+does+my+email+go+to+spam

There are too many reasons to list here but they are known. Maybe you send spam and welp, it will go to the spam folder.

I am trying to email existing customers of a friend of mine. They just basically want to check that everything is going ok with their product, and see whether anyone needs any help.

But they wanted me to do it from a different email address – I think they think that having a separate email address for it seems more professional. So far it feels anything but.

So, the emails don’t contain any selling info, nothing asking them to buy, or look at products. It has the link to their website in the signature, but that’s it.

I have gone through most of the websites from that google search and made as many changes as I can – the ones I understand. For example, I’ve no idea what DKIM, SPF, or DMARC are.

After checking into this more. You can’t do this without

I checked around more and you can’t do this without contacting your email provider. That is, you can’t send from a normal gmail account and add this header.

Google has to do that. My bet is it’s going to cost and also be frustrating to non-techs.

Thank you everso much for checking around about it rproffitt. I suspect you’re right. My tech knowledge is about 20 years out of date, and I have no idea how to contact google.

My conclusion so far is that we need to start with another new email address, and use one of the mailshot programs I’ve seen people talking about. I’m going to do a bit of research first, to make sure that this doesn’t happen all over again.

An unsubscribe link is just the same as any other link and can perfectly be placed anywhere (most often in some footer) in the text of the mail.

But note the site it links to must be prepared to do the unsubscribe action in your database.

        In reply to Re: unsubscribe

I already have an actual unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. The website that I’m following is suggesting that the reason my emails are going to spam, is that it doesn’t have an unsubscribe option in the email header.

Well – I can’t figure out how to do that in gmail.

It also suggests that in order to do so, you need to get your system admin to do it. Well, I suppose that would be me. As of Friday, anyway. It’s a company with 3 employees!

I’m not using a database. I am literally going through hundreds of paper orders that were printed out over the last year, and using the email addresses from there. (I do plan to make a spreadsheet, on which I could mark those who unsubscribe – but I can’t tell gmail that).

Multi-send emails automatically include an unsubscribe link at the bottom of your message so recipients can opt out of future emails. On your computer, go to Gmail. In the top left, click Compose. From the toolbar at the bottom, click Turn multi-send mode on/off .

      Regards,
      Will
