Inserting Filename and Path in a Header

By sbeam ·
In Word 2000 we insert the filename and path in our documents through the options in "Header" so we are able to find them again in the future.

The problem we are having is Word 2000 only puts the drive and the name of the document, it does not put the entire path.

Example: g:\it\sbeam\word\test.doc would show up as g:\test.doc...

Does anyone know if this is a Windows 2000 issue or how I can fix it in Word 2000?

Thank you.

You need to add the /p flag to show the path. Use the options button when you insert the Filename field and choose the Field specific switch. The field will look like this:
{FILENAME /p */MERGEFORMAT}
Use Ctrl+F9 to insert the field braces {}

Sorry, I was leaning the wrong way when I typed the answer. It should be \p.

Open your header, then press Ctrl+F9 to place field brackets in the header. Then type "filename \p" between the brackets. Don't type parenthesis I used and make sure the backslash "\"is used. The forward slash won't work from my testing.
