Good Day All:
I have an Inspiron 6000 laptop that I inherited from the guys at the office. It hasn’t ever worked right when Windows was installed/reinstalled, (various odd operating errors) and installing Windows is nearly impossible due to various cryptic error messages during the install. The motherboard was replaced twice and the issues remained. I went over it good and proper, (new memory, HD, everything else) and still came away with no success. I shipped it back to Dell and they again replaced the board, which yielded no change. Now it won’t even POST and I’m fairly sure either the BIOS is hosed or otherwise corrupted. I removed/replaced the BIOS battery and nothing changed.
I’m curious if any of you have dealt with really icky BIOS issues on an Inspiron 6000 and had any tricks to get it re-flashed or fixed, (jumper adjustments, etc). It’s been so long now that the warranty is dead and Dell is no help. The box is essentially unused and I hate to give up before exhausting all options. If I could get BIOS to behave I think I could get Windows loaded again. Any ideas helpful. Thanks.
