Install PCI 512 sound card, lost drivers.

by wayneinreno . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I was installing a Creative sound card, model PCI-512 to XP Home edition. I followed instructions that were sent to me by their tech department. I was instructed to go into safe mode, and access the device manager, and delete certain files and or folders,as I was doing this, the system froze, and upon reboot, I no longer had a modem, or cd capacity. I still have the system this happened to. I am trying to find out what I can do to get the drivers back, and tranferred from this system to the onenext to it, that had the trouble. Is this possible? I tried to do system restore, but it would not work, saying, “there is a problem loading drivers cannot continue”.
I am at the mercy of the tech gods on this one. Here are files I deleted,
(1)2GMGSMT.SF2,(2)A3D.DLL,(3)DEFAULT.ECW,
(4)DEVCON32.DLL,(5)EMU10KF.VXD
These files seemed to be associated with the sound card itself.
Note:I tried to install previously, and was informed that I needed special instructions to install compatable drivers for XP.
Thanks for your time.
Wayne.
