Install USB thumb drive under restricted user

By raylevigne ·
Our client has 5 XP SP3 Pc's that have a restricted account (No admistrator abilities). This is in a job search location. We would like to be able to allow users to use thumb drives to copy resume info and to edit as well. At present when you insert a usb stick, the PC will install drivers for the stick and you need to give it Administrator username and password, we would like to avoid this and allow the users to just be able to plug and play. I have installed a Kingston and a Cruzer on them but with so many makes of USB drives now, an administrator would have to be be onsite at all times.
Is there a generic USB driver that can be installed to allow this? Or is there a registry edit that would allow a restricted user to install a USB thumb drive and to access it?

Thank you in advance,
Ray

Give end-users a list of acceptable thumb drives and sizes, and a disclaimer

"Sorry, we are not able to install drivers for every make and model of USB drives. Only supported drives will work. Supported drive types are readily available and inexpensive."
