Heres a good one i just recently deceided to reload Win 2000 Server I put the CD in and stsrt the install I have the CD format the HD with NTFS then then computer reboots when the CD boots up again and try's to install and says there is a installation floder already exist c:/winnt would i like to repair it this should not happen after format i am confused


NOTE: CD is good no imprefection,HD is good computer running for a year

done that it still would format the drive and im second shift sort to speak

The Windows format command does not do a very good job of cleaning off the hard drive.

The format command with no switches just deletes the file allocation table.

To clear the hard drive to install Windows "clean", I start by deleting the existing partitions.
Then, I create and format new partitions of a different size than the old partitions.

If desired, delete the new partitions.

Then, boot from the W2K CD and create the desired partition structure when prompted by the installer.
