Installation Error

By rforest ·
After Windows Restarts for the last time during the initial install an error pops up saying it can't find KRNL386.exe. What happened to it and where did it go? This hasn't happened to me before.

Installation Error

Not sure for which version of Win you're doing this for, but under Win98 SE it installs itself in c:\windows\system. If you can boot from a floppy, look in that directory and see if the file is in that directory. If it is, then it sounds like there is a problem in the PATH definition.

Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM to any existing SET PATH=
statement and see if that will help it relocate itself.

Thanks. But I copied the .cab files to the hard drive and reinstalled everything and it worked great.
