By john.turford ·
Can anyone tell me a simple way to stop users installing software on PC's. I work in a school and have problems keeping students minds on their work instead of playing games.

I worked at school district for 5 years. We used security software called Foolproof. It has both a MAC and PC version.

You can simply put passwords for your users, and then, you just have not to allow rights installing softwares. So, if someone attempt to install a programm, there is a message "contact your administrator network"

If you have the PCs in a Windows 2000 AD domain, just install a GPO that removes the right to install software for the student accounts.
