Installed a legacy driver, I got a BSOD and now my PC is not working proper

I was having an issue with my network adapter. It stopped being detected by the computer but the problem wasn’t the computer, but the ports/the network adapter itself.

So, since I thought it wasn’t either of those options, I tried with what some YouTube videos told me (including network reset, executing CMD commands, changing BIOS settings) and nothing worked, until yesterday I tried what’s shown on this video, at 3:10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWMQmhsdKO4

I chose Microsoft as manufacturer and I’m pretty sure I chose ”Microsoft Hyper-V Network Adapter” as the model. After that, I started installing the driver and after a while I noticed it was taking a good time, so I decided to close it (I think with Task Manager?). After that, I got a BSOD with the error “DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE” and then my PC was stuck in the startup screen.

I unplugged it, and later I tried to do a clean install of Windows with my USB stick. I booted on the USB stick, formatted the disk and then installed Windows. Each time the computer restarted since then I would get the ”To skip disk checking, press any key within (x) seconds” under the loading Windows logo. I got this one too when I changed that disk for another one, so I don’t know what’s going on.

Today I turned on the computer, which was working fine after yesterday’s happenings except for the disk checking message, and after the startup screen went by there’d be a black screen and then the PC would restart, so I went to BIOS to make sure boot options were fine and they were. After I left BIOS I got a “Repairing computer” message under the loading Windows logo and then a blue screen which asked me if I wanted to return to the previous state to fix the problems (Picture of the bluescreen), to which I pressed the button to go back to the previous version and now I’m here. Without any of the applications I downloaded yesterday

Now I got this message on the Windows dashboard: “Restart to repair drive errors”

I don’t know what to do, maybe the disk is corrupted but according to Samsung Magician and CrystalDisk it is ok, with 1.1 TB written, and also I got the check disk message with my other SSD (which wasn’t in the computer along with the other SSD in which I had the issues, I put it after removing the other one) so I’m not sure what is causing the problem.

I have an HDD too, but it only contains data, nothing else. My C: drive has three partitions if that helps (EFI System

This sounds more like either a power supply issue,

or motherboard failure. Since it started with a network adapter not being recognized, and has progressed to the SSDs, I would check the PSU first,
      then the motherboard.

The network adapter only works at a certain angle, are you sure it could be the motherboard? Things started getting weird after the driver BSOD, but I don’t know what could had happened

Why I suspect PSU and/or motherboard

Since your network adapter was the first thing you noticed going wonky, then you mentioned various SSD problems, my first thought was faulty PSU not providing enough power to your system. My second thought was a fault of some kind on the motherboard (hairline crack in circuitry, bent connector, failing capacitor etc) which first exhibited network card problems, then non-responsive SSDs.
How old is this PC? Brand/make/model, homebuilt/custom?
More information may help get better answers, but a general first thing to check is the power supply, then for faults on motherboard where peripherals attach, or where controlling units are located (things such as PCI bridges, drive control…may need a circuit tester or multimeter)

Couple of questions for the OP: any recent hardware changes in the computer, what type of power supply and what is its capacity/max. output?

I’ll have to check that data from the power supply. Unique recent hardware changes are removal and insertion of SSD disks

Based on your latest post, I tend to agree with Wizard that it might be a PSU issue and the new hardware (SSD) may not be getting enough power from the current PSU.

The situation sounds complex. Legacy driver install likely caused BSOD. Now stuck in restart loop with disk check message. Samsung Magician might be missing drive issues. Try booting into Safe Mode and running a chkdsk. Consider reinstalling Windows after backing up data if Safe Mode fails. Hardware issues are a possibility if software solutions don’t work.
