Installed New CPU Fan - Computer Powers On with no Monitor Display

By TJNash09 ·
Please help. I just installed a new CPU had to remove the entire motherboard to install a mounting bracket underneath. Reinstalled all of my components and now when I power on the computer the lights go on the fan whirles but the monitor doesn't display anything.

See if this will help

Check to be sure that the Monitor has power and that the light is on. Try another power cable.
The monitor is not recieving any signal from the video card. If you have onboard video, try using that instead of the video card. If the card is not seated properly, then the motherboard will default to the onboard video system and no signal will be sent from the video card. Try reseating the video card. Disconnect all devices except for the mouse, keyboard and monitor. Try another monitor, if it doesn't work then it is in the video card. But if the other monitor works, then it is in your monitor.

Please post back with the hardware in use here

Things like the M'Board Make & Model and the type of CPU that you fitted here are important. Just because the CPU fits the Socket on the M'Board doesn't mean that the M'Board can use that CPU.

When it comes to 775 CPU's not every 775 CPU will work on a 775 Socket M'Board. This is particularly true with the newer Dual Core CPU when fitted to older M'Boards.

If the M'Board will not use the CPU you have fitted this is exactly what happens.
