Check the jumpers on the back of the 'slave' .....

Make sure it's not set to 'MASTER'.

Better still, check the original hard drive - if it is set to 'CABLE SELECT' - do the same with the second hard drive.

THe slave is set to slave and master to master

the hard drives have the jumpers in the right place, and bios recognizes the 2 hard drives as master and slave and they arent on cable select. my computer wont load the windows xp screen, it seems like it is about to, but then it goes back to the utility screen and asks me to boot in safe mode or start normally. everything works fine right up until it tryies to load the windows xp screen. so what else could be wrong?
