Installing 2 Versions of MS Access.

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

My Home PC is a PIII 733 with 60 gig HD running Office 2000 with Win 98.
My work uses Access ’97 databases.
I want to work on them at home and have installed the ’97 version of Access. When I start Access ’97 I receive a message to the effect thatI don’t have a licence to run it.

I own both the Office ’97 & 2000 Pro versions.

What do I have to do to be able to retain both versions on my PC and choose which one I need to work with. Can the Registry be edited to permit 2 licences? (By the way, how do you back-up the Registry as always recommended before editing?)
I haven’t partioned the 60 gig HD. Is this an option and then to install 2 completely separate OS’s with a different Office version in separate Drives?
If so, what steps do I take to do that &, so I can select which OS to start at boot up?
Do I need something like Partition Magic or can it be safely done with fdisk?
As I am looking for a fairly well detailed step by step guide to help me through this problem, it may not be convenient for the preparation of a long detailed answer, should the solution prove to be reasonably involved. Re-direction to a site/s which might provide detailed print outs for the suggest solutions will also be gratefully received.
