Installing a HP M50 Monitor

By wsmm ·
Had to reload Windows 98 on a pc due to a corrupt hard drive. Drive was so corrupted it had to be reformated prior to loading. The problem I have now is due to a move the install disk is either misplaced or lost for installing the monitor. The generic verious of 98 does not list any HP monitors. Therefore when installing it on;y loads the monitor as a generic monitor limiting it to 16 insted of 256 colors. I've tried the HP site and all areas I know of to get install software, or find an answer as to how to get this monitor up to 256 colors without any luck. Anyone out there have a solution?

Thanks in advance

Here is the link to your monitor driver.

However, the likely cause of having only 16 bit color is the Video Driver not the monitor driver. To download the apropriate driver for your system go to http://support.hp.com and type the model number of your system into the box labled Enter product number. (assuming you still have the original video card)

I know this may be trivial but make sure you have the correct Graphics card driver. I find that is more likly the problem then the monitor.
