Installing a video card on an emachine

by sherman.snyder . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

I have a Emachine W3629 desktop computer and I’m trying to install a Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT video card. I actually have a couple problems here. First, my video card, after I install it on the MOBO is not reconized when I turn the computer back on. With the computer not reading that the new video card is installed, I cannot install the drivers. I went into the control panel and disabled the onboard graphic card (the one I’m currently using) and went into my Bios to disable it there aswell. This is where the second problem pops up. (those of you that are more knowledgable about this are probly saying “oh no”. I cdisabled the wrong thing in the BIOS. Now my PC makes a alarming beeping sound and nothing shows up on the screen. Some one told me just take the small round battery out and put it back in and this should reset the BIOS back to normal. Does this really work? Is there anyone that may be able to help me get this PC back up and running with the new video card? Thank you in advance.
