Installing "default" printer

By hhildebrand ·
Anyone know how to set a printer in XP for "the default user" profile using that computer instead of installing it for every user logging on. Is there another method other that installing under my profile and copying my profile over the default user profile (maybe a script or something)?

One way of doing this is to log on as a user (e.g. jbloggs) on the computer and set everything that you would like the "Default User" to have.

Then log off and log on as an Administrator for the local machine (not the account you have just setup).

Make sure, in the folder options, that you can view hidden folders and files and then navigate to c:\documents and settings

Delete the Default User folder and then rename your jbloggs folder as Default User.

That way, all of the settings that you created under jbloggs will be available to any new user that logs onto the machine.

See this Microsoft solution:

I have used it and it worked fine.

Good luck
