Installing Excel 97 odbc drivers

By edudley ·
When I open up Control Panel/ODBC drivers there are no drivers available. I need the Excel 97 drivers. How do I go about installing these?

Big Thanks

If you are referring to no Excel drivers listed when you click ADD - you can install this from the Office 97 CD. You have to go into Add/Remove Programs and add the component for the drivers.

Microsoft's database access files (including ODBC drivers for Excel, Access, MS SQLServer etc. ) can be installed using the redistributeable ( that mean freely downloadable) file named 'mdac_typ.exe'. You may find it on many installation CD's or download the latest version from Microsoft.

There are currently two versions of ODBC that will work with Excel 5.0 & 97. You can download them right from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
The product name is ODBC 3.0. If you have problems with this one use the 2.0. This should supply all of the database drivers that you need for Microsoft Office Products
