installing linux on hard disk with bad sectors

hi ,
i am using celeron pc with 40 gb hdd,128 ram, each time i try to install linux it say media corrupted while cd check says it is ok.
Hdd has bad sector . how can i rectify that problem to install red hat linux 9.0. Any tools avaiable or some method . half of hdd is used for win 2003 server it is working fit & fine .

you can try using a windows boot disk to format your hard drive.As it is going through the process you will come to a point where it sticks at e.g (63%) .Here is where you can stop .Now repeat the process ,this time you know that your bad sectors started at 63% ,so choose to partition the drive for 6o% that way linux will have a good partition to use. I hope this help!

you're kidding right? hard disk bad sector?? Toss it out and buy a new one which works!!
$100 will get you a new hard drive. compare that to the time you've spent trying to install on bad hardware and buying the new drive will come out in front.
