I often have to install new systems, say home installs. The first thing I do is update virus definitions, install zone alarm,and do critical updates. However, now it takes about 30 seconds for a system to get infected when connecting to high speed, so I am in a catch 22, as I need the internet to update software, but cant connect until I am secure. Any suggestions? I am always onsite, so I cant for example always do this behind a firewall. I use norton, and also wondered if there is a way to get the virus definitions from a secure system to update a new system. If so, how?
