Installing ODBC Drivers

By derek_n ·
I want to re-install the Oracle 73 ver 2.5 ODBC driver onto my Windows 95 PC and I keep getting invalid page faults in module MSVCRT.DLL brought on by ORAINST. If I try to uninstall the current driver, I get the same page fault before the task is complete. How do I get around this problem? Thanks for any input.

The best way to do this, is to boot with a DOS boot disk, navigate to the c:\windows\system directory and delete the msvcrt.dll file, then go and install Oracle ODBC, also note, if after deleting the file, and before installing Oracle, if you look at the ODBC driver version information, it will appear blank, but the Oracle ODBC install will replace the MSVCRT.DLL file and you should be set.

What version of Oracle installer (ORAINST) are you using? There is a Y2K issue with versions before 3.3.1.1.
