Installing Office 2000 on Windows xp pro

I’m kind of a neophyte with the in depth details of computer software and hopefully someone can help me. My problem is when I go to install Office 2000 premium from cd on to windows xp. I get an error message and the install does not finish, howeverall the programs work. The error message I get is 2755, which I looked up on the microsoft web site and the fix is to change the permission on the installer folder to everyone-read administrators-full system – full. That seemed straight forward enough, but the problem is I do not know where the folder is located or how to change the permission on it. If you can help me I’d appreciate it.
