Installing OpenOffice2.0

By BarryVG ·
Need to install OpenOffice 2.0. New to this process. I have the file *tar.gz which has been extracted to several folders, some containing rpm files. I know an rpm is an installable file, but how do I get this to run? There are several *core files that seem to be dependent upon each other. What is the process. I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the installation instructions page at www.openoffice.org

"Installation Steps

1. Unpack the downloaded image into a directory. For example, currently, the following command would unpack into the current directory:
2. tar xvzf OOo_2.0.0_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
3. Su to root, if necessary.
4. cd into the directory with the unpacked image. This could be RPMS.
5. Delete any rpm files that do not apply to your system. For example, on a Fedora Core 3 system, delete any rpms specific to another distribution such as openofficeorg-suse-menus-1.9.79-1.noarch.rpm.
6. Then execute rpm -Uvih *rpm."

I know it is a little difficult to navigate to the installation instructions:

http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.1/instructions.html#linux

There are also documentation guides:

Enjoy,

Chas
