Is it ok to install Oracle 8i in windows 2000?
Would there be any error?

Yes. I've done several installations of Oracle 8i both in the office and in the house. Even if you're a novice user, just run the installer from the 8i CD and select all default settings. If you're presented with a dialog box to which you are uncertain for the answer, just click on the next and leave it blank.

One thing you have to watch out for is that 8i also installs the an HTTP server that is powered by Apache. They need to install this for OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) support. By default, it will install on port 80 that might be in conflict with IIS (if you have one). Simply stop both Oracle HTTP and IIS services and edit the httpd.conf of Oracle HTTP to use a different port.
