Installing RAS prevents domain access

By Crafu ·
Hi there,
I have a NT4 server with SP5.
Due to a crash recently we had to do a full recovery.
When I added RAS and did a restart I was unable to get the server to find the domain.
Even if I logged on locally and re-applied SP5, it didn't work.
After a bit of investigation it seems that the installation of RAS is preventing the Workstation service from starting and therefore preventing the server from logging onto the network.
If I try and start the Workstation service manually, it returns an error saying that it was unable to find a file.
How can I get this to work? It used to be fine and I can't think what else to try.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Craig

Installing RAS prevents domain access

First thing to try is to stop and disable the ras service and then reboot. I think you will find that the problem is still there. I think you are looking at a different problem then ras. Why are you running SP 5? 6a has a lot of fixs and is recommended by MS. Also you should update your ras to RRAS, which runs better with less problems.
