Installing software on my PC at work…..

by rmmccluskey . Updated 19 years, 4 months ago

Hey All,

At work, my XP user account doesnt allow me to install most software, which is a problem. I have a piece of software I want to install that may dramatically improve the way I perform my job.

When I logon, I am logging into a domain, and we have roaming profiles. So my question is: if I were to use something like Winternals ERD Boot Disk to boot my work PC, could I then install the software so that when I logged back on it would be available to me?

If not, any other ideas on how I can get around the user restriction on my account, short of asking my IT group for permission?

Thanks in advance!
