Installing Vista Ultimate on USB

by vladnistor . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

I have the following problem:

My Benq S73G laptop’s HDD has failed (it no longer works). I’d like to install my copy of Vista on my Corsair Voyager 16GB USB flash drive and run it from there until i get to replace the HDD. The problem is that Windows does not think the flash drive is an appropriate medium and won’t detect it when asking where to install it, even though when i click to search for driver it displays it and all it’s content.

Is there a way to fool the Windows Vista installation into thinking my flash drive is an actual HDD and not a removable disk? Are there any other alternatives to this?

Notes: My computer can boot of USB.
