Installing VPN on NT 4.0 server

By Rastin ·
I have installed VPN on our NT 4.0 server, and can not figure out why its not working. This is the setup:

1. Hooking up from Frame Relay.
2. Using Proxy 2.0, RRAS, & no modems.

Are there any secrects not documented in the Que articals?

There is a very specific order you have to install the applications in. Here is the order:
1.NT
2.SP6
3.RRAS
4.Internet explorer
5.Option pack (IIS)
6. Proxy server
7 proxy server SP1

Here is the KB number. Q183537

Installing VPN on NT 4.0 server

by Rastin In reply to Installing VPN on NT 4.0 ...

The Technet Article Q183537 was followed to the letter.

I am running NT4, SP6a, IIS, RRAS and Proxy 2.0. Internet Connection via Cable router.

Question :
I am not using dialup devices to call out - but I still expected to have VPN devices to configure for the LAN connection.
On install I only selected LAN / WAN.....do I need to go back and add the Dialup option?
I have the filters setup on the RRAS to pass all protocals to the Proxy - and the Proxy filters are set to allow pptp rec. (Q16594
Do I need to setup the port 47 and 1723 on the rras as well? The way I read the doc's it should be passing everything to
proxy at this point. Corrections welcome.

Take a look at Q article q176924 at www.microsoft.com/technet. Article mentions in the proxy readme.txt that there is a RRAS hotfix that needs to be installed as well as specific filter and client requirements that might meet your criteria.
