Installing W2K & XP on 250 GB Hard Dr

By xiangli_s ·
Hi,

As we know that W2K only support 137 GB hard drive if Service Pack 3 is not installed. My question is that since most installation CDs do not come with Service Pack 3, is it possible to install W2K and XP on a 250 GB Hard Drive

I'm not sure about Y2K but XP with SP2 installs onto a 300 GIG HDD without a problem I did this last week without a problem.

As for Y2K I would install it on a smaller Drive and then Clone the drive to your 250 GIG HDD using one of the many available cloning utilities. Provided that the M'Board can support that size drive you shouldn't have any problems with the clone and you'll be able to keep the original HDD to re-image from should the need arise.

I think you should install W2K in the present HDD with the partition you require. W2K will take the partition from the 137GB it recognizes of the HDD. Apply W2K SP4. Then install XPSP2 in a seperate newly created partition while installing XP. XP may recognize the full HDD capacity.
This way both the Operating Systems can work together but bootable seperately.
Best of Luck.
