Installing Windows98 from Msdos ver6.22

by everett alvarez . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I am trying to install Wins98 from Dosver6.22. I shouldn’t say this, but i am using my factory backup operating system cd from gateway to install wins98 on to my own built pc. When i do setup i get a general message” This cd is only for a gateway computer.” I tried to boot from cdrom, but i guess the cdrom does not recognized the cd.
Here is what i tried:
*Changed the bios to boot from cd first.
*Cd rom is reading data since i see the files.
*Copied all the win98 files to my hard drive, butgetting the same thing.
*Tried this from gateway>
At the C:\ prompt, type: C:\Cabs\Setup C:\Cabs\Msbatch.inf /iw /is /p c-.
which, it might work but i only have dos version 6.22 installed.
Please help me..
