I have a toshiba a55 preinstalled with xp home edition. One fine day i ran virus scan on it and its hard disk crashed. When i booted the pc xp didn’t boot saying Hal.dll is missing. after lots of efforts to recover my data from the disk i eventually replaced my hard disk with a new one. Now my problem started as my system Dvd rom is having problems by not recognising certain disks esp. my resource disk so i copied it using a mass usb drive. I do not want to buy a new dvd rom is there any way i could extract the factory image or windows xp home edition from my resource dvd and install xp home from my hard disk.
this resource disk uses Ghost image files.
