Installing XP on a Sony Viao

by danielfountain . Updated 17 years, 3 months ago

Hi,
I recently brought a Sony Viao PCG-7134M. It came, obviously, with Vista Home Premium. The problem is, I need to install Windows XP Professional for the laptop to connect to our domain. I tried to install Windows XP Pro, but when it had done its load up routine, it came up saying: “Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.”

One, the laptop didnt come with any manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program, and two, I know the disk works as I have installed Ubuntu onto the computer to check if the HD is working and it works fine.

Can anyone shed any light on this??

Thanks
