I am running windows 2000 Pro, and always log on under Administrator, I now keep getting a warning that " you dont have sufficient security priveleges to add new hardwear, log off and back on as an administrator", the only thing that i did was to re-name the administrator account, but i dont know if that has anything to do with it. Can anyone help please.

Check to see if that account has all the privileges needed. Windows does strange things!

how dis you rename the administrator account? the way to do this is in the Local Security Policies (secpol.msc), Local Policies, Security Options. Select the Rename Administrator Account. Set this policy to give this account a new name.

Now log in using the renamed administrator account and password.
