      Add .exe to the firewall exceptions

      SP2 adds security features including a somewhat configurable firewall. Under comtrol panel> security center> Windows firewall there is a tab for exceptions. See if adding the program to this list helps

        If you have got a hardware firewall no your router then I do not see any need for the Windows firewall to be turned on the desktop aswell. You can turn off the firewall by going into control panel and selecting the firewall section and turning it off.
