Inter-Domain Authentication Problems

By kbrinneh ·
I've run into an interesting problem here. For the sake of the
scenario, let's say I have three domains: A, B, and C. I recently promoted a machine to be the PDC in Domain B after demoting the old one. Nearly everything went smoothly during the process with one exception. When I try to access \\PDCA\c$ with the Administrator account from Domain B, I receive the dialog box "Incorrect password or username for:". At first, I thought it was a User Rights issue on Domain A. However, I can access \\PDCA\c$ from the administrator account on Domain C with no problems. The trusts that are in place are: A <--> B and A <--> C. The only event in the log that provides any useful information is as follows:

Logon Failure:
Reason: An unexpected error occurred during logon
User Name: <Domain B>$
Domain: <Domain A>
Logon Type: 3
Logon Process: KSecDD

Another side effect is that users are no longer able to connect to ourexchange server from home since it is on Domain B which has to authenticate to Domain A to grab the user account.

I'm stumped on this one since the only information I can find from Microsoft is to delete the computer account and rejoin the domain, which I can't do since it's a PDC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
