    Intermittent com Port not working

    Locked

    by vijay.gupta ·

I have 810 motherboard, P-III, 866 Mhz. CPU. My both com ports (com1 and com2) have stopped responding recently. My mouse is ps2 mouse connected to com port via connector(ps2 to com). I would also like to know whether this board has ps2 port.

    thanks.

Knowing the manufacturer of the motherboard would be a big help. Some manufacturers sold motherboards that provided PS/2 port through a 8 to 12 pin header. The physical port is a separate piece that is installed in one of the case’s back slots and plugs into the header. Sometimes these are available as a replacement part from the manufacturer.
If the manual is not available to verify a clue that this may be the situation is if the system BIOS has a setting for enabling a PS/2 port.

      Good luck.
