internal application error -2147287037

By dhenderson5028 ·
We are getting this error message when trying to e-mail a document from a client application to an exchange distribution list. This error is intermittent during the early morning hours (6 -7). I have contacted the DBA's and they point fingers at theapplication. The Exchange Admin's don't have any answers either. It happens about once a week.

This started when the DBA's upgraded to SP 3 on the SQL 7.0 databases. The error message is
"An error has occurred -2147287037 internal application error. Could this be an ODBC issue?

Could be caused by the application, or one of it's components, or a component of SQL 7.0, but probably one of the first two - more likely the 2nd one.

One definition of the error is:
-2147287037 (80030003) The path %1 could not be found. Here is a complete list:

The problem has been identified. When the application was coded we were use Outlook 97. Now that we are using Outlook 2000 the application does not call it to open Outlook 2000 to send the e-mail. A temporary fix is in place. The client has to open Outlook before sending the e-mail from the app. Then there is no error message and the e-mail is delivered. We are working on recoding the part of the app that calls Outlook to open when the send button is pushed within the app.
