internal clock runs 11 min 1 sec fast

By dbergesen ·
I have a Dell 4600C desktop computer. I keep having to reset the internal clock. Every time it is fast by 11 min. and 1 sec. I correct the time and within 15 - 20 min it is off by 11 min. 1 sec. It never goes off more than that or less than that. Why??

Check the time zone settings

Check the time zone settings. Also make sure it's not trying to synch with a time server through the internet.

I checked the time zone setting and it is set to the correct time zone. When I first discovered this problem I installed a time sync program that is set to check once a day. If that was the problem wouldn't the time be off by whole hours?

not necessarily

Try uninstalling the time sync. See if that fixes the problem.
