internal error 2355

I have a p III running on windows 98 2nd edition, every time I attepmt to install msoffice premier 2000 i get an internal error 2355
I have downloaded the fix from microsoft. but still get the error. I have copied the entire disk to the hard driveand attempted to load but problem still exists. I have been told it may be the cd rom. Please help
