Internal Mail and OWA

By maxime ·
Hi
i'm having some problems when sending a mail using OWA to a AD member and sending internal emails using the exchange account from outlook.

example

scenario-1:
user1@domainx.be sends a mail with OWA to user2@domainx.be, member of the same AD. this email never arrives, no errors, no log, just vanished.

scenario-2:
user1@domainx.be sends a mail with OWA to an external maildomain ( ex. @hotmail). result--> the email arrives.

every user has his pop3 account configured in outlook client together with his exchange account.
the default delivery is the exchange mailbox.
when using the exchange account to send an email from outlook, the mail also disappears
when using the pop3 account with smpt set on my internetprovider, the email arrives

what kind of protocol is exchange using for internal mail delivery, also smpt ?
and how can i test if it's working properly?

can someone help me out here.
i'm not the expert here !! :)

thank you in advance

Message Tracking

by Churdoo In reply to Internal Mail and OWA

Exchange has a tool called Message Tracking. It's in Exchange System Manager / your administrative group / Tools. Query the Message Tracking utility to see if it gives you clues as to where the message(s) is/are going.
