Internal SSL Certificates

Good Afternoon,

I have been trying to create, certify and deploy a SSL certificate for an internal Help Desk Solution, however I am very confused!

I have spoken to the supplier whom we purchased the software from, they used a tool called “Portecle” which was preinstalled in the application files, to create a KeyStore Filer.
However, once they created this file, they told me that they weren’t allowed to show me how to certify and deploy the certificate.

I have been investigating on the internet how to create a certificate, however it just pushes me to unusual detailed information.

I can’t seem to find a guide to help me.

For example, when we go to log onto our internal helpdesk solution it states; "Helpdesk:8443 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it self-signed. The Certificate is not valid for the name Helpdesk"

Preferably I don’t want to spend any money on creating the certificate. I have access to virtual machines and servers to test on

If anyone out there can help, I am happy to use any solution if I understand the process and software

Thank you
