Internal Website Redirection

By stngfan1 ·
Is there a way with DNS to redirect a web site. I have a financal application that runs in a browser. You point your browser to http://Server1/app then it starts up. I changed the server. So now I would like to redirect anyone still using the old URL to http://Server2/app.

Thanks

You can create an alias in DNS. So the alias would be the old server name and the new server is the regular pointer record.
So the old servername will point to the new server's IP address

change your the ip address of your server1 in dns with the ip of the server2 server. Or if server1 still exist create an asp file with the ff. codes inside. <% Response.Redirect("http://server2/app") %>. Make sure your make the page as the default page in your IIS.
