Internet activity log in win98

By hatkarky ·
I have win98se OS and share it with my kids. I want to know where win98 keeps a log of all internet activity performed on the computer. How do I find the logs?

Best regards
Mark

There are a number of programs for monitoring the children. I've used a number of different ones, but am currently using Cyber Sitter.

There really are not any easily available "logs" as such. If you wanted to know where users have been without installing any additional software about the only things available to you is the Temporary Internet Files folder. You could puruse the cookies ad other files here to see what sites the cookies and temp files are coming from. You could also check things like the address bar. These things, however, could have been manipulated by having a user either emtying the folders through the Internet Options Control Panel Applet or manually deleting all of the files in the temp directories.

The information is usually still retained in various .dat files residing in the temp directories. There are software apps available (both commercial and free) that will allow you to view and/or remove these .dat files. Also, as stated in answer 1 there are many apps available to track internet usage (also in commercial and free flavors). Just do an internet search for what you want to do and you'll have a couple of days worth of reasearch waiting for you.

Cheers.

Rather than catching them doing something wrong, try to prevent it. Put your computer where the screen can be seen from a high traffic part of the house(living room, den or kitchen)

If you are worried where the kids ar going or what sites they are on
12 look at the internt temporary files
while internet explorer is open go to tools options>settings > view files. If you wish to you can use the content advisor which is part of internet explorer refer to the help files they are quite good and guide well
