Internet Classroom

by binary mind . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I need to setup 20 PCs for an Internet classroom in my network. The room that is being dedicated has one 10/100 connection to the main switch which itself is connected to a router. I thought about creating a subnet to virtually disconnect the classroom from the main network and to only allow Internet access. First I thought about just adding a switch in the classroom to gain multiple connections for all the PCs, but that won’t let me create a subnet. Then I wondererd if using a second router + switch will do the trick. Has anyone experience with classroom setups and what kind of bandwidth/performance surprises I have to expect for the rest of my network?
