Internet connection

By nhiep_nguyen ·
I am connected to two networks at my place, one in wireless and the other through an ethernet connection.
So when I go on line with IE or Firefox which one of the connections is then used? and how could I know which one is in use?
Thanks

usually, it should default to the plugged in LAN. It is not a good idea to have a connection to both at the same time, as Windows gets confused and you could have serious slowdowns.
I always recommend to turn off the wireless card when plugged into a LAN.

XP should default to the first card in the machine. To find out which is the #1 card:
Open a command prompt.
Type: ipconfig /all, hit <Enter>
The first Ethernet adapter is your system's first NIC.

Then to confirm, open your Task Manager and click on the Networking Tab. Fire up your browser and you can see which card is doing the work.
